Shanzay Subzwari is a young Pakistani painter, currently enrolled as a third year BFA student. She contributed fresh and vibrant, pop-art inspired paintings to the Jumma Hafta Art Bazaar where her work was noticed and she was approached to participate in painting cricketers as a tribute to the heroes.

Subswari took up the challenge and despite her current status as a student, managed to produce eye-catching paintings of the cricketers in fresh and vibrant pop-art inspired style. She got the chance to educate herself on the cricketers, studying articles and photographs selecting interesting moments to capture and recreating them in her own style. When asked which one of them was the most successful, she said Imran Khan with the blue hair depicting ‘Tsunami’ received the most appreciation.

With Misbah-ul-Haq’s embattled Pakistan side set to take on the top-ranked South Africa in the coming weeks, Subzwari’s work could do well in rallying the fans behind the team. Her exhibition titled ‘Hero Worship’ commenced at T2F on Tuesday evening and will continue to run until October 22.
