I VISITED the passport office in Karachi a few days ago to acquire a passport for my newly-born niece. I went to the passport office along with my sister at 8.15am.
My sister was lucky enough as there were two women standing in front of her in the queue.
However, when it was time to get a token number, she got No19. This was unfair. I went to the head of passport office and lodged a complaint but he said my sister had been issued 19th number as there were people (probably agents or VIPs) with whom he had to cooperate. He requested me to wait for our turn.
I urge the authorities concerned to take the necessary steps to bring to an end this unfair and discriminatory attitude.
