ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday said the government would take all political parties on board over peace strategy for Karachi.

The federal government was providing all possible assistance to Sindh province for curbing criminal activities in the biggest city of the country, he added.

Talking to a private TV channel, Rashid said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government would not interfere in the affairs of the Sindh government.

He blamed the former regimes of dictators for terrorism incidents in the country, adding that continuous democratic process was needed to resolve all the issues including terrorism being faced by the country.

To a question, the information minister said the federal cabinet meeting, scheduled to place in Karachi on Sept 3, will take the final decision regarding steps for peace in the port city.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will hold meeting with political parties and businessmen of Karachi in this regard, he added.

Senator Rashid said that all political parties wanted strict action against the criminals without any discrimination to ensure writ of the government. The political parties should support surgical operation in Karachi, he added.

He condemned the increasing sectarian violence in the country, saying people of all faiths should show tolerance for restoring peace.

To another query, the minister said the government would evolve an anti-terrorism policy that would also be owned by all the political parties.
