PESHAWAR, Aug 30: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shah Farman on Friday asked Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman not to be impatient and honour democratic mandate of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the province.

“The restlessness being demonstrated by the JUI-F chief is understandable as he always remained part of the government and at the moment, he is still part of the government in the centre. Without power, the JUI chief is feeling much restlessness and fatigue, and if he is loyal to democracy, then he should honour the mandate of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf as it has come into power through elections,” he said in a handout.

The minister was commenting on Mr Fazl’s remarks, which he had given after meeting with the prime minister on Friday.

Mr Farman said the people had given the right to power to PTI and the victory of its candidate on NA-27 with such a big margin had proved that the boat of JUI-F was about to sink as the whole in it had been widened by that defeat.

He said the JUI-F chief was feeling that he had taken 85000 votes in NA-27 Lakki Marwat, while PTI candidate had obtained only 18000 votes in the last general elections but this time around, the people gave their mandate to Imran Khan.

The minister said the JUI-F chief had criticised PTI though the people had given their votes to Imran Khan as they knowing that his criticism was without facts.

“The people of Lakki Marwat have openly rejected JUI as they are not happy with the bad remarks the JUI-F people are giving against Imran Khan and that is why PTI candidate won the seat with a big margin,” he said.

Mr Farman said the people were appreciating performance of PTI as its government had introduced reforms for keeping superiority of merit, ending favouritism and providing justice to the people.

He said different reforms were also introduced to make performance of the government departments but the same hadn’t been ‘digested’ by the JUI-F chief.
