ISLAMBABAD, Aug 29: Shots were fired at the vehicle of Awami Muslim League’s president Sheikh Rashid Ahmad near Shakarparian on the Islamabad Highway late Thursday night, police said.

The incident took place when Member National Assembly Rashid was returning from the office of a news channel along with his driver and gunman.

When he reached Shakarparian, shots were fired at his bullet-proof vehicle.

Sheikh Rashid approached the media and informed them about the incident instead of contacting the police.

As result, the police were initially unaware of the incident.

Later, the MNA contacted the police to lodge a complaint At the police station, Sheikh Rashid said he did not know who had fired at his car and from which direction, adding that he did not suspect anyone behind the incident.
