THIS is with reference to the letter by Muhammad Ali Sheikh (Aug 13), in which he emphasised the individual traits for amending rules.

Actually, this is a very unfortunate state of affairs where rules, laws, ordinances are made and amended on the principle of individuals’ traits (as if they are indispensable).

This means benefiting or accommodating the person in question as was seen in deputation and out-of-turn promotions which were given by the government but were struck down by the apex court.

As we know all over the world rules, laws and ordinances are made and amended for the benefit of the people and for the better working of state organs which consequently help the country to progress. I believe we must follow the principle of providing benefit to the people in general and for the progress of our country while we amend any rule.
