KARACHI, Aug 25: Alamgir Gymkhana lifted the inaugural edition of the Mehman-e-Ramazan T20 cricket tournament by defeating Touchme Eleven by 43 runs in the final played at the KCCA Stadium here the other day.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Alamgir Gymkhana posted 172-4 in their stipulated overs. Experienced left-handed batsman Shaharyar Ghani hammered a scintillating 54 from 27 deliveries with his knock including three sixes and four fours.

Babar Agha contributed 30 (five boundaries) while adding 81 for the fifth wicket with Shaharyar. Other notable scorers were Akbar-ur-Rehman (34) and Mohammad Waqas (25).

Medium-pacer Babar Rehman claimed two wickets for 34 runs.

Touchme Eleven, in reply, were dismissed for 129 in 20 overs. Skipper Khalid Latif hit 34 with the aid of three boundaries and two sixes, Zeeshan Jamil made 33 while Umar Imtiaz scored 36,

The wickets were evenly shared by Mohammad Sami, Faraz Ahmed Khan and Misbah Khan with each grabbing two each.

Chief guest Haji Mohammad Nasrullah Khan distributed the prizes after the game. Alamgir Gymkhana skipper Adnan Kaleem received the winners’ trophy and cash award of Rs100,000. Khalid Latif collected the runners-up trophy plus Rs50,000 on behalf of his team.

Shaharyar got Rs5,000 after being declared Man-of-the-Match in the final.

Northern Gymkhana’s spinner Fawad Khan was adjudged the competition’s best bowler, Mohammad Hasan of Alamgir Gymkhana the best wicket-keeper, his team-mate Mohammad Waqas the best batsman. All of them were presented with Rs5,000 apiece.

Alamgir Gymkhana’s all-rounder Akbar-ur-Rehman was named Man-of-the- tournament. He received Rs10,000.

The presentation ceremony was also graced by Zafar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Ameer Akram Khan, Khalid Butt, Ijaz Ahmed and tournament secretary Naveed Al-Amin.
