KARACHI, Aug 24: Fazal Subhan struck a brilliant century and fellow opener Fakhar Zaman hit 94 as Pakistan CC thrashed Vital Five CC by 333 runs to qualify for the semi-finals of the two-day Invitational cricket tournament here on Friday.

Fazal blasted 113 with the aid of 11 boundaries and a brace of sixes and the left-handed Fakhar Zaman bludgeoned 10 fours and four sixes as the added 172 for the first wicket. Pakistan CC eventually amassed 438-7 in their allotted 90 overs at the RLCA Ground in Gulberg.

Vital Five CC were sent packing 105 in just 34.4 overs with slow left-armer Faraz Ahmed Khan taking five wickets for 23 runs.

In matches ending earlier, Alamgir Gymkhana, Nazimabad Gymkhana and Landhi Friends also booked their places in the semi-finals.

Alamgir Gymkhana eased to a seven-wicket victory over Malir Gymkhana at the RLCA Ground in Korangi.

Batting first, Malir Gymkhana were all out for 142 with Mohammad Waqas making 56 that included seven fours and two sixes.

In reply, Alamgir Gymkhana were home in 23.3 overs.

Nazimabad Gymkhana overwhelmed Dawood Sports by 231 runs at the TMC Ground.

Nazimabad Gymkhana, batting first, posted 383-9 in 90 overs. Mirza Shoaib led the way striking 23 fours and one six in scoring 143, while Owais Ahmed Rehmani contributed 76 with seven fours and one six.

Dawood Sports were bowled out for 152 in 54.2 overs. Veteran batsman Saeed bin Nasir made 64 with the aid of eight boundaries. Leg-spinner Mansoor Ahmed captured five wickets for 51 runs.

Landhi Friends defeated Airport Gymkhana by four wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.

Opener Agha Sabir excelled by making 104 (12 fours and two sixes) as Airport Gymkhana totalled 194 in 72.5 overs. Slow left-armer Habib-ur- Rehman snared four wickets for 23 runs.

In reply, Landhi Friends reached their target by making 196-6 in 54.3 overs. Arsalan Bashir hammered 81 with nine fours and two sixes.
