Reviews fail to derail Chennai Express

Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express seems to be unstoppable when it comes to creating new records at the box office.

SRK and Deepika Padukone starrer has made a new record by collecting over 270 cr worldwide. Till Monday (19th August) the collections of Chennai Express at the box office in India had reached 185.73 cr and the overseas collection of the film is around 90 cr in two weeks.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#ChennaiExpress [Week 2]: Fri 6.50 cr, Sat 8.51 cr, Sun 10.22 cr, Mon 3.80 cr. Grand total: Rs 185.73 cr. SUPERB... Note: India biz only."

SRK made everyone keen to watch his entertainer by giving the audience a special offer to buy two and get one ticket free on the day of Rakshabandhan. The collections on 20th August would have surely increased by such an offer by King Khan and the figures are still awaited.

Chennai Express made with a budget of 75 cr became the fastest 100-cr earner in the history of Indian cinema. — TOI
