LAHORE, Aug 11: Unidentified people opened fire on a local route bus on Multan Road in Hunjarwal police station remits here on Sunday evening.

Police, however, ruled out terrorism, saying some vagabonds had fired at the bus.

Saddar SP (Operations) Malik Muhammad Awais said the bus of a private company was going from Jallo Morr to Thokar Niaz Baig when some youngsters fired at its rear portion.

He said some bullets hit the bus near its number plate, but no passenger was injured in the shooting.

The SP said the suspects fled the scene, adding that the police had begun investigation into the incident with no positive outcome so far.

He said apparently it was not an act of terrorism and rather a revelry fire from some youths. Witnesses told police that the firing triggered panic among passengers and passersby and all passengers rushed out of the bus thinking that some militants fired at their bus.
