DURING the May election, the Muslim League raised people’s expectations and sentiments by making tall promises.

While the government seems determined to take tough decisions for the reformation of a rotten system of governance, no serious attempt appears afoot to introduce political, social, economic and judicial reforms.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has so far not addressed the real issues of the country. He ought to have taken the nation into confidence.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other prominent leaders of the party should tackle the plethora of issues one after the other, including energy crisis, fiscal deficit, price hike, unemployment, social and moral degradation, reducing circular debt, reviving dwindling economy, corruption, the government’s standard response to these problems so far for us is “it is on the priority list”.

While the prime minister is busy promoting relations with neighbours, some senior members of his kitchen cabinet ought to clarify the long list of government priorities in order to inform and appease the people.
