THE Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) announced two posts for the recruitment of district wildlife officers in Punjab. Qualifications included MSc in Zoology, mentioned in the advertisement.

Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, has been offering MSc Wildlife Management degree since 2007. This degree is recognised by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

I have a master’s degree in Wildlife Management. When these posts were announced, one of my class-fellows pleaded a petition in the high court and we were allowed to appear in written test. I passed the written test and qualified for final interview. But I was not allowed to be interviewed and rejected for not having a degree of MSc Zoology as the rule requires.

In addition, it was said that a Wildlife Management degree is not relevant.

I appeal to the authorities concerned to take notice.

We have very limited job opportunities in Pakistan.
