THE disappearance and dumping of bullet-riddled bodies in Balochistan have become unbearable. The government seems to remain silent on the issue.

The families of the missing persons would commence Eid again this year without their loved ones.

The families of these missing persons have been running from pillar to post to get them recovered and alive. Many families have been receiving dead bodies with the several marks of torture on their bodies.

If these missing persons have done something wrong then why does the government not give them a judicial proceeding or access them to a legal consul? The responsibilities of the government not only include economic uplift and educational opportunity, but also the protection of human rights.

An entire generation may be lost to this grave issue. It seems as if the government in general and security forces in particular do not want to resolve the ongoing issues while the international organisations such as UNO, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International are doing nothing but condemning human rights abuses in Balochistan which is not less than a lip service.

The families of missing persons need support on humanitarian grounds. A joint-mechanism is needed between the ruling government of PML-N and international organisations like the UN to stop the genocide of the Baloch.
