MIRAMSHAH: Two suspected militants were killed in a US predator strike in Mir Ali Tehsil of North Waziristan Agency late on Saturday night, official intelligence sources told Dawn.com.

Sources said that two missiles were fired from the US drone on suspected militants riding a motorcycle in Mosaki village of North Waziristan’s Mir Ali Tehsil.

They said that the suspects were killed and the strike also partially damaged the nearby houses. However, they failed to confirm other casualties.

North Waziristan region is close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), governed by tribal laws.

Attacks by unmanned US aircraft are deeply unpopular in Pakistan, which says they violate its sovereignty and fan anti-US sentiment, but US officials are said to believe the attacks are too important to give up.

The political administration and the military authorities never confirm or deny details about such strikes and most of the information is shared by the intelligence sources or the militants groups themselves who are targeted in such attacks.
