I do not see any solid plan of addressing power crisis in Pakistan. The statements prior to elections were full of promises of addressing power crisis if elected. When elected, the prime mister cleverly diverted the media attention. I strongly doubt if India or Iran are capable of solving Pakistan's power needs. I used to hear an expression "Apnee ghot to nashaa aawe"

Today Mr. Mandela is revered by all. Today Prim Minister Nawaz Sharif has similar chance, he can become another Mandela if he forgets and forgives what happened to him in the past. nawaz government is on wrong path. we are 7th bigger producer of milk, can't we think we are also 7th bigger producer of cow dung. produce electricity from this source. everyday Lahore and Karachi are producing thousands of metric ton of waste, use this to produce electricity.

Sharif & co will prefer the country who offers higher kick back

it is beyond the common man under standing that despite the fact that we are blessed with natural resources..our incompetnt and so called patriot rulers,not leader,have badly misused them. The whee of the every sector of the government is jammed..in past 15 years the issue of energy crises was not resolved .This unscheduled loadshedding has made the people frantic and psycho patiens.i appeal this government to take serious initiatives to solve this long standing issue of energy.

If you wish Pakistan to buy electricity from Iran, be my guest. Of course Pakistan has the right to get whatever it wants from wherever it wants. However the world at large does not rely on sentiments but on economic sense. In this case, the right question to ask is whether it makes economic sense to get electricity from India, Iran, China or anywhere else. There are also many factual inaccuracies in your letter. India does not utilize oil power plants like Pakistan. So there is no question of buying oil from somewhere and making a killing. India's power basket depends on coal (57%), water (19%), nuclear, gas (9%) and alternative sources (12%). Secondly Pakistan is already a few miles away from a point on India's national grid. Pakistan should see if it makes sense using short connectivity to get energy or lay out a part of its grid all the way via Baluchistan to get power from Iran. Also, some states in India face a shortfall. But this also has to do with economics. Many of these states are simply unable to afford electricity from the national grid, provide electricity subsidies and also do not generate enough power on their own. It speaks nothing of the fact that private companies are able to generate power on their own and sell it to the national grid. Lastly 8-10 hours of loadshedding? No major Indian city or town suffers from loadshedding!

@Foreign Leg: I have recently been in India. Power breakdowns are common facts there even in cities like Delhi, Hyderabad , Ranchi and Lucknow the cities I visted. Please no from India and yes from any other source like Iran.

There is absolutely no need to buy electricity from anyone. Pakistan has the infrastructure to produce enough electricity to meet all of domestic needs and then some. The only issue that has caused the current problem is people using electricity and not paying for it, i.e. stealing it. As soon as the people start paying for what they use, all of this power shortage will go away.

Nawaz Sharif and company has special affiliation towards India. It is nice and beautiful.

Since when beggars became choosers? Go and get from whoever gives you power, why should India give it to you for free? Rules of trade are a norm and Pakistanis need to learn that...if you want power, then pay for it otherwise...remain powerless in the dark...simple as that!
