LAHORE, June 28: The Lahore Development Authority on Friday opened membership of its Sports Complex in Johar Town. Application forms will be available from July 1 at the LDA offices in Johar Town.

“Only the regular taxpayers will be eligible to apply for the membership. All applications will be scrutinised by the executive committee of the LDA Sports Complex and only shortlisted applicants will be called for interview,” says a spokesman for the LDA.

He said since the LDA Sports Complex was a state of the art recreational facility, those clearing the interview would be awarded its membership.

The complex has been constructed on a piece of land measuring 32 kanals. The infrastructure has been constructed at a cost of Rs400 million.

Since the value of land is Rs600 million, the total worth of this facility is one billion rupees, the spokesman said.

Two separate swimming pools, two gymnasiums and as many tennis courts -- one each for men and women -- have been established at the complex. A basketball court, jogging track, squash court, table tennis hall, badminton court and snooker hall have also been established besides making adequate arrangements for security and provision of other facilities like café and dining hall there.

The management of the complex has invited tenders from reputed contractors for running the cafeteria by July 11. It has also sought applications for pre-qualification of experienced firms for the provision of security services at the sports complex by July 5, he added.

DOGS: The City District Government of Lahore claimed on Friday to have killed over 250 stray dogs during the last three days of the drive it launched.

According to the DCO, the campaign will continue till the elimination of entire stray dogs in the city.
