Shah becomes Sindh CM for third time

KARACHI: Veteran politician and senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday has been elected the chief minister in Sindh province for record third occasion.

Earlier during the ongoing session of the provincial assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani of PPP was sworn in as speaker of 16th Sindh Assembly whereas Shehla Raza took oath as the deputy speaker.

Shah secured 86 votes in the secret ballot.

Durrani congratulated the veteran politician for completing “hat-trick” of becoming Sindh chief minister after announcing the ballot results.

Sardar Ahmed – the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidate – bagged 48 votes while Imtiaz Sheikh of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) managed to secure18 votes.

Shah has held the post previously in 1988 and 2008.
