ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court barred on Tuesday Zaka Ashraf from performing his duties as the chief of Pakistan Cricket Board and issued notices to Zaka, Secretary sports, Secretary of Pakistan Sports Board, and Federal Secretary of inter-provincial coordination in this regards, DawnNews reported.

A single-member bench of the IHC comprising of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed the hearing over a petition submitted by Major (r) Ahmed Gulzar Suddle which said that the recent elections for the post of PCB chief were held fraudulently.

The petitioner had alleged that election board constituted for the election of the PCB chief was not as per rules and rather in contradiction to the board's own constitution.

The petition also requested that Zaka be stopped from convening or attending any meeting of the Board.

Suddle further requested for fresh elections to take place giving an opportunity to former members of the national team.

The court admitted the petition for hearing barred Zaka from performing his duties as PCB chief and issued notices to Secretary sports, Secretary of Pakistan Sports Board, Federal Secretary of inter-provincial coordination, and the PCB chief seeking a reply within a week.
