The car used in the assassination of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali, was purchased on forged Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) about three years back, sources close to the investigation told Dawn on Monday.
Suzuki Mehran, which was being used as taxi, is found registered with the Excise and Taxation Office (ETO) of Gujranwala.
Further investigations revealed that the car was neither snatched nor stolen as no case was registered with any police station.
The man, in whose name the car was registered, told the police that he sold it in 2010 to Ishaq on open letter, the claim which proved right during investigation.
He further told police that Ishaq was a native of Dhamial village.
