Officials face suspension

GHALANAI, May 14: Political Agent Mohmand Agency Dr Amber Ali Khan has recommended to commissioner Peshawar to suspend tehsildar Baizai Riaz Khan and Khasadar force Sobedar Mohammad Ayaz over negligence in duty in Baizai where a peace committee member was killed on the polling day.

Officials said on Tuesday that four khassadars were also sent to the lockup, while the political agent ordered an inquiry into the incident. A peace committee worker, Malik Khushal Khan, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near the polling station in Koda Khel area of Baizai tehsil on the polling day on May 11.—Correspondent

PPP candidate assails workers

TIMERGARA, May 14: Former provincial minister for technical education and losing candidate of PPP from PK-94 Mahmood Zeb Khan on Tuesday demanded of the leadership to immediately dissolve the party’s organisation in Lower Dir.

Addressing a workers’ meeting at his residence, Mahmood Zeb alleged the office-bearers of the party in the district were behind the party’s defeat in Lower Dir after enjoying all benefits during last five years.

“The party organisation and some workers were spreading negative propaganda against the PPP candidates in Lower Dir. That is why we were defeated,” he said and added the PPP had been a strong political force in the district and it would be reorganised at the union council level.

Senator Ahmad Hassan, speaking on the occasion, said next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would face many challenges.—Correspondent

Students awarded certificates

MINGORA, May 14: The University of Swat awarded certificates to the position holder students of affiliated colleges during a ceremony here on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by principals of affiliated colleges and faculty members of the university, while Vice chancellor Prof Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan was the chief guest. A total of 64 certificates were awarded to the students who secured top positions in B.A, B.Sc, M.A M.Sc, B.Ed, M.Ed and B.Com annual examinations.

Students of Government Jehanzeb Postgraduate College Swat, Fatima Jinnah College Khwazakhela, Government Girls Degree College Saidu Sharif, Government College for Management Sciences, Swat College of Science and Technology and Indus College of Education received the certificates.—Correspondent

‘Q’ leader joins PML-N

PESHAWAR, May 14: The central president of Pakistan Muslim League-Q Justice (retd) Azam Khan has joined PML-N along with his supporters, expressing confidence over the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Justice (retd) Mohammad Azam Khan made this announcement at a public gathering in Mansehra. In his address, he congratulated Mian Nawaz Sharif and Captain (retd) Mohammad Safdar on their success in the general elections, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday.

Mr Azam reposed confidence in the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif and stated that under his leadership Pakistan would emerge as ‘Asian Tiger’. He also mentioned the sacrifices and services his family had rendered for Pakistan Muslim League.—Bureau Report
