  • All rates are based on per column centimeters and are given in US $ unless otherwise stated.
  • The minimum advertisement size acceptable in DAWN Regular pages is 10 column centimeters. Advertisements that are less than 10 colcms. in size will be placed in the Window Watch section of the DAWN National Advertiser

Obituary and Related Notices (O&RNs)

Categories of Obituary and Related Notices

Obituaries, Obituary Acknowledgements, Soyems/Qul, Chehlums, Condolences, Death Anniversaries, In Memoriam, Majlis for Esal-e-Sawab, Religious Ijtima and Majlis, Mehfil-e-Zikir, Taraweeh Prayers, Urs, Dars, Gurdwara Prayers, Church Services, Uthama, Puja, Parsi Jashn and Fire Temple Prayers, Kalash Festival, Christmas Mass, Easter Mass


Obituary & Related Notices (O&RN)

There are two categories of obituary and related notices (O&RNs) a) Personal O&RN b) Corporate O&RN.

a) Personal O&RN (applicable to page 18 only)
Personal is defined as non-corporate and relates to the death of a private individual or a religious event organized or attended to by persons in their private as opposed to corporate identities. A Personal O&RN announcement appearing on this page may be one of the following three types:

  1. Fixed Size O&RNs (excludes corporate obituaries) for Karachi, which shall be published in 5cmx2columns. Such O&RNs will be charged at the flat rate of US$ 90 per insertion and no premium will be charged. No agency commission is accruable. Such O&RNs will appear in local editions in this size only and will usually be condensed in other editions as a free service subject to availability of space. An O&RN in fixed size of 5cmx2col repeated within 40 days relating to the same deceased will be billed at US $150 for both. In case of a third repeat O&RN (Chehlum, Soyem/Qul, Majlis Isal-e-Sawab etc.) all three notices will be billed at US $210
     
  2. Extended Size O&RNs in the double column format for Karachi in the double column format (excludes corporate O&RNs).
    • It may appear in double column format and will be charged at US $12 per column cm +15% premium, and will need to appear in double column format (as specified in local ads on page-18). Such O&RNs will appear in local editions in this size and will usually be condensed in other editions as a free service subject to availability of space.
     
  3.  Standard Size O&RNs for Karachi shall appear on page 18 subject to availability of space. It may appear in one of the two standard sizes i.e. 20x3 or 27x4.In such cases the cost of the ads shall be calculated as follows:
    US $12+50% for a 20X3 O&RN
    US $12+30% for a 27X4 O&RN
    This obituary will appear in all three editions.

No odd sized Personal O&RNs shall be accepted on page-18. However, corporate obituaries may be accepted in odd sizes but with relevant premiums of the page upon which they appear.

b) Corporate O&RNs

National Rate

  1.  Corporate O&RNs placed by a corporate identity carrying a company name and/or logo/s. Such O&RNs will be charged at the National Rates i.e. US $40 (weekdays) and US $50 (Sundays).
     
  2.  If an O&RN carries the name of the deceased with the name of the company in brackets, e.g. “we regret to announce the death of Mr. Saleem (of ABC Co),” and if such corporate names appear only once in the text, the ad will not be considered as a corporate obituary notice. Provided the mourner is not a company or an identified division or entity within such a company and/or there is no corporate logo. The decision on whether an advertisement is considered a corporate O&RN or not, shall be entirely at the discretion of the management of PHPL and may not be challenged.
     
  3.  If an O&RN carries the name of any one mourner with the name of company in brackets e.g.: “Mourner: Mr. Abid (XYZ CO)” the notice will not be considered a corporate obituary notice provided that NO corporate logo of any business unit appears in such an advertisement, or any such company’s name appears only once in the O&RN to identify the deceased or a mourner.
     
  4. All other such O&RNs will be classified as corporate and may be accepted on page 18 in 20x3 or 27x4 sizes only and shall be charged at National Rate plus relevant premium. In case of such advertisements appearing on page-18, the following premiums will be charged:

    50% premium will be charged over the National Rate for a 20x3 advertisement.
    30% premium will be charged over the National Rate for a 27x4 advertisement.
     
  5.  Corporate O&RNs on any other pages may appear in any advertisement sizes (whether standard or odd) permissible on those pages at the National Rates plus the relevant premium.

 

Company Statutory Notices and Financial Statements

Corporate Announcements (CA)

Corporate Announcements (CA) Categories:

Advertisements under CA may comprise of the following categories:

  • Statutory Financial Statements
  • Notices of Annual General and Extraordinary Meetings
  • Publication of prospectus, Reduction of share capital if required by the court
  • Closure of Members’ and debentures holders’ register
  • Holding of Annual General Meeting
  • Election of Directors (however announcement of elected directors does not come under this caption)
  • Decision for appointment or removal of auditors at AGM,(however announcement for appointed auditors does not come under this caption )
  • Amalgamation of Non Banking Finance Companies
  • Voluntary widening of a company
  • Ceasing to have place of business in Pakistan of a foreign company
  • Foreign company having a place of business in Pakistan and going in to liquidation in country of its incorporation
  • Declaration of dividend



There are three types of Corporate Announcements (CAs) a. Fixed Size CA, b. Extended Size CA, and c. Standard Size CA.

  1. Fixed Size CA
    Open only to corporate bodies, i.e. entities that form one body of many individuals, or belonging to a corporation or group, or a group of people authorized to act as an individual and recognized in law as a single entity. Advertisements under this type shall be published in 5cmx2columns fixed size. Such CA advertisements will be charged at the flat rate of US $100 -and will usually be placed upon Business Pages (except the front page of Business Section) or anywhere in the paper regardless of any position request. However, such advertisements cannot be placed on page-18 (Metropolitan Page-2 in most editions
     
  2. Extended Size CA
    Open only to corporate bodies, i.e. entities that form one body of many individuals, or belonging to a corporation or group, or a group of people authorized to act as an individual and recognized in law as a single entity. Advertisements under this type shall be published in double column format at the rate of US $16 per col. cm on weekdays and US $22 per col. cm on Sundays. Such CA advertisements will usually be placed upon Business Pages (except the front page of Business Section) or anywhere in the paper regardless of any position request. Such advertisements can be placed on page-18 (Metropolitan Page-2 in most editions) with 15% premium over and above the base rate.
     
  3. Standard Size CA
    Open only to corporate bodies, i.e. entities that form one body of many individuals, or belonging to a corporation or group, or a group of people authorized to act as an individual and recognized in law as a single entity. Advertisements under this type shall be published in sizes ranging from 5cmx2columns to 54cmx8columns (full page). Such CA advertisements will be charged at the rate of US $18 per col. cm on weekdays and US $24 on Sundays. Such advertisements will usually be placed upon Business Pages (except the front page of Business Section) or anywhere in the paper regardless of any position request – unless fixed. However, such advertisements cannot be placed on page-18 (Metropolitan Page-2 in most editions)

Readers' Advertisements
