Police officer booked

ISLAMABAD, April 14: A police officer of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has been booked for receiving Rs1.33m from six youngsters in order to send them to Korea. The agent who runs the business has become the complainant.

According to police sources, a trader of Blue Area, Mohammad Iqbal, who runs a business of sending people abroad, had received Rs1,330,000 from six youngsters and had promised them employment in Korea.

Mohammad Iqbal recorded his statement with the Kohsar Police that he had handed over the amount to ASI Zabiullah to get the visas for the youngsters.

However, the police officer had neither arranged for the visas nor had he returned with the money.

Police have registered a case against the police officer, but have not arrested him.

A police officer said that instead of the youngsters who had lost their money, the case had been registered by the agent, and hence if the case proceeded, Mr Iqbal would have the right to patch-up with the police officer, calling the case closed.

When contacted, Station House Officer (SHO) Hakim Khan said Iqbal had filed the application a month ago, and ASI Zabiullah had been summoned. “Both had then reached an agreement in the police station, so I decided not to take action. Now, Iqbal has again insisted for an FIR, due to which it has been registered,” he said.

“The youngsters, who had paid the money, have not come to my office. If they file an application, I will register a case against both the accused and the complainant,” the SHO added.
