Man kills nephew

LAKKI MARWAT, April 9: A young boy was shot dead allegedly by his uncle over a minor issue here on Tuesday.

One Muhibullah told the police in his preliminary report that he along with his son Imranullah was going home when his brother Mohammad Hussain opened fire on his son, killing him on the spot. The accused escaped after the incident.

The Tajori police station registered the case and started investigation.

In another incident, two cousins namely Gul Nawar and Khan Badshah were injured when their rivals attacked them on Tuesday. They were shifted to a local hospital. The police registered a case and started investigation. —Correspondent

Eight arrested in Jamrud

LANDI KOTAL, April 9: Political administration in Jamrud on Tuesday arrested eight persons for violating ban on use of motorcycle.

The administration imposed the ban on use of motorcycle and public display of arms for an indefinite period after unidentified gunmen shot dead a female teacher in Shah Kas area on March 26.

Assistant Political Agent Jamrud Jahangir Azam Wazir told newsmen that his administration will not allow anyone to violate the ban and ensure that all culprits were brought to book.

He lauded the assistance of local elders and general public in maintenance of law and order in Jamrud and said that his administration have so far recovered nine abducted persons along with seizing a sizable quantity of contraband during various raids and search operations. —Correspondent

Police ‘to ensure’ fair polls

KARAK, April 9: District Police Officer Ateequllah Khan Wazir has asked the police officers to exhibit complete impartiality during electioneering to ensure transparent election in the district.

Speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday, the DPO stressed that the station house officers should not indulge in politicking and focus on their professional duty to provide security to the people.

Mr Wazir said that the district police had already devised a security plan for the election and directed the SHOs to increase patrolling to avert any unpleasant incident during the election campaign.

The DPO also stressed the need for police officials to improve their working relationship with the masses and bring all wanted criminals to justice. —Correspondent

Man goes missing

PARACHINAR, April 9: The Hindu minority leaders in Kurram Agency have demanded of the authorities to help recover a member of their community, who went missing on Saturday while travelling to Kohat in connection with registration of a non-custom paid car.

Addressing a news conference at the press club here they demanded safe recovery of Charan Singh, the son of Hindu minority leader Jaswat Singh.

The Hindu leaders said the 40-year-old Charan Singh didn’t return home since April 6 which has worried family members. They urged the administration to take appropriate measures in this regard. They said the Hindu families had been living in Kurram Agency before the independence of Pakistan. —Correspondent

Young boy shot dead

CHARSADDA, April 9: A 14-year-old boy was shot dead by unknown assailants in front of his house on Tuesday.

Zakirullah was standing in front of his house in Khobai, Shabqadar area when unknown assailants opened fire on him. As a result he sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ibne Amin, brother of the deceased, has lodged FIR against unknown assailants. —Correspondent  

Security plan okayed for Tank

TANK, April 9: A security plan has bee finalised to ensure peaceful elections in the Tank district which has been declared sensitive.

DPO Faridullah Khan Katikhel told media persons here on Tuesday that 100 polling stations had been declared most sensitive while remaining 29 polling stations had been declared sensitive. He said police and FC contingents were called from other districts to maintain law and order during the polling. He said strict security measures were taken due to law and order situation on borders along South Waziristan and FR Tank.

He said 53 extra polling stations had been set up for IDPs from South Waziristan for election on NA-41 and NA-42 seats. He said trained police and security forces personnel will perform duties on polling day. He said help of army personnel will be sought if needed. —Correspondent
