ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: A man was murdered over a land dispute in capital’s rural area on Tuesday, police said.

Khalid Farooq, 33, of Amurpura came to his new house constructed over 2.5kanals in Ghori Town. A group of few people armed with weapons raided the house and claimed that he owned few marlas.

Shortly a scuffle broke out between them and during which one of the attackers pulled out a pistol and fired a single shot at the head of Farooq. As a result he fell unconscious and the attackers escaped from the scene.

Later the injured was shifted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased was the son of a prayer leader at Jamia Msajid Farooqia in Amurpura. The police said that the victims purchased the plot from a man couple of years back and recently constructed the house.

But on Tuesday all of sudden few people appeared at the house and claiming that the house built at there lands measuring few marlas.

Later the deceased families staged a protest at Murree Road near old Naz Cinema in the late afternoon. They blocked the road for traffic and demanded early arrest of the killers.

The protesters remained on the road for over an hour and later depressed after the local administration of the Rawalpindi assured them that they would pursue the case and take up the matter with capital police.
