RAWALPINDI, Feb 12: At Benazir Bhutto International Airport, an Airport Security Force guard was arrested after attempting to deliver 3kg of heroin to a passenger traveling to Barcelona.

The ASF guard, Irfan Bashir, was associated with Tipu Company. A security official at the airport told Dawn, "We saw him standing by the aircraft stairs, even though his shift, which ended at 2am, was already over. When his senior officer questioned him he ran for the departure lounge." There, other members of the staff took him into custody.

During a preliminary investigation, Irfan Bashir said that the heroin was supposed to be delivered to a passenger from Gujrat, Nazim Abbas, who was traveling to Barcelona via Dubai on Emirates flight EK-615. Nazim Abbas was arrested and turned over to the Anti-Narcotics Force.—Staff Reporter
