TAXILA, Jan 21: The Taxila police on Monday evening claimed to have foiled a major terror plot and recovered huge quantity of explosives besides arresting two suspects.

Subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Raja Taifour Akhter said the police intercepted a car (LOW-4408) on Thatta Khalil link road of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway. During search, the police recovered 8,400 detonators from the car. He said the accused were identified as Shoukat Ali and Ghulam Bhahdur, residents of Nowshera.

It may be mentioned that law enforcement agencies had on Sunday morning also arrested two activists of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TPP).

Arms and explosives, including two hand grenades, two Kalashnikovs and over 800 rounds were recovered from their possession.

According to sources in security agencies, Samiullah and Ghafoor alias Langra were involved in a number of terrorism activities in various cities of KP. They were hiding at an Afghan settlement in Usman Khattar area on Taxila- Hattar Road bordering the Haripur district of KP.

The security agencies tracked them after getting information from other TTP men arrested in Nowshera a few days back.
