LAHORE, Oct 16: Lawyers helped a man, involved in a hit-and-run accident, escaped arrest after the Lahore High Court dismissed his interim bail.

Accused Fayaz had knocked down minor Misbah while driving his car recklessly in Nankana Sahib city.

The girl lost her legs in the accident while the accused escaped from the scene. However, the police registered a case against him.

The accused, through his counsel, pleaded that it was just an unfortunate incident and there was no deliberate act on the part of the driver.

The counsel urged the court to confirm bail of his client. Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, however, dismissed his bail petition and directed the police to arrest him.

Police officials arrested the accused and left the courtroom. The counsel for the accused and his associates, however, intercepted the police near the court gate and tried to free the accused.

The policemen failed to resist the lawyers’ attack and the accused fled.
