LAHORE, Oct 12: Garden Town police claim to have arrested a Karachi-based seven-member gang of robbers, including ringleader Saeed Bhai, and recovered looted items from their possession.

Talking to the media on Friday, Garden Town Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Zeshan Siddiqui said the robbers had formed ‘Saeed Bhai Karachi gang’ and used to escape Karachi after committing crime in the Punjab capital.

He said the gang had also hired Mubarik of Shahdara for the facilitation of them by identifying the ‘targets’.

The arrested robbers were identified as Saeed Bhai, Munir, Faisal, Shaheen Sheikh, Anwar and Asif, all residents of Karachi.

Zeshan Siddiqui said the criminals had confessed to 29 incidents of crime in Lahore. He said Munir and his accomplice, Asif, would lift motorcycles from various localities, including Garden Town. They would stay at local hotels to prepare for the crime.

The ASP said the criminals had been handed over to the investigation wing for further action.

SUICIDE: A 25-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself with a tree in Nishtar Colony on Friday.The locals spotted the body of Shahzad Masih of Yuhanabad and alerted the police.

Quoting deceased’s father Yunus Masih, the police said Shahzad was mentally-challenged.

The body was handed over to the family without autopsy.
