LAHORE, Oct 7: A 25-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances outside his in-laws’ house in a Shadbagh locality early on Sunday. The victim’s family alleged that he was administered some poisonous substance by his in-laws over a matrimonial dispute. However, the woman’s side claimed the victim swallowed poison on his own.

Shadbagh police inquiries showed that victim Muhammad Tanveer of Charagh Park, who was married one and a half years ago, divorced his wife about one month back.

He visited his former in-laws’ home situated at the same locality late on Saturday and insisted on bringing her back despite divorce upon which the woman’s family forced him out of the house.

During the course of time, neighbours gathered on the spot.

Quoting witnesses, police said Tanveer swallowed some pills outside his in-laws’ house. Police shifted him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The woman’s family filed an application with the police with a claim that at least 50 area people witnessed Tanveer consuming pills.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a murder case.
