LAHORE, Sept 23: An elderly man and his nephew were killed and a four-year-old boy was injured seriously after their rivals opened fire on them at two separate places in Batapur on Sunday.

Police said 70-year-old Farmaish Ali, his nephew Muhammad Ali, 35, were killed in firing by men of the Maulvi Ramazan group at two separate spots. Ali’s son Saqlain also suffered a gunshot wound and his condition was said to be critical at Services Hospital.

Cantonment SP (Investigation) Fida Hussain said the police responded to two separate emergency calls as one man suffered gunshot wounds in Attoki Awan village and another man and his son near the main BRB Canal bridge.

He said the police record revealed that victims were nominated in a hurt case got registered in 2010 by the accused party, but they were bailed out by a court. The victims’ two members are still in jail in connection with the same case.

The SP said the investigation into the double murder had been launched and efforts were on to trace the killers.
