Five killed in Swabi incidents

PESHAWAR, Sept 21: Five persons, including a woman, were killed, and a baby girl got injured in different incidents in Swabi district, police said on Friday.

According to Kalu Khan police station, wife of Riaz reported that her brother-in-law, Hashim Khan, and his wife were allegedly killed by Saeed, Khalil and Barkat at his home. It has been learnt that there was an old enmity between the two families.

In another incident, a man, Tahir Khan, was killed by his rivals, Saeed and Saleh Mohammad, over an old enmity. The concerned police station registered case and started further investigation.

Meanwhile, two motorcycles collided in the limits of Kalu Khan police station as a result a police official, Mohammad Shakeel, and another bike rider, Shamsher of Gullu Dheri, died on the spot. A baby girl, Sadia, was critically wounded in the collision. The injured baby was shifted to district headquarters hospital.—APP

Man kills son in Khar

KHAR, Sept 21: A man was killed allegedly by his son in Utmankhail area of Bajaur Agency on Friday.

According to an official of Bajaur levies, the accused, Riaz, 30, opened fire on his father Bakhti Rawan, 55, in Bandagi village of Utmankhail area, killing him on the spot. The accused escaped the area.

The political administration registered the case and started investigation. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained. —Correspondent

Development projects in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 21: ANP leader Ajmal Marwat has said the provincial government has spent over Rs2 billion on different small and mega development projects in Lakki Marwat district during the last over four years.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said the government allocated special funds to execute welfare projects in the district to remove deprivation of the people. He said former chief minister Akram Durrani had deprived the district of its share in the development projects.

He said the ANP-led government took practical measures for the uplift of southern districts and launched several mega schemes there to change the lot of people. The government, he said, re-initiated work on Gomal Zam dam and earmarked huge chunk of funds for Kurrum Tangi dam.

The ANP leader appreciated the role of MPA Yasmeen Zia in the uplift of Lakki Marwat and said provincial government would continue bettering lives of the backward areas. —Correspondent

Media worker’s death condoled

PESHAWAR, Sept 21: Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar on Friday expressed grief and sorrow over the death of a staffer of a private news channel, Mohammad Amir Zebhere, during the coverage of protest demonstrations against the anti-Islam film.

In their separate condolence massages, Mr Hoti and Iftikhar Hussain expressed sympathies with the grieved family and prayed for the eternal peace to departed soul and courage for the grieved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.

Meanwhile, Governor Barrister Masood Kausar also expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the tragic death of the worker and described it a very shocking incident.

In his condolence message, the governor said, ‘we are quite conscious of the sensitive responsibilities which the journalists’ community performs and we fully acknowledge their feelings in this particular case’.

He expressed deep sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.—APP
