Man gunned down

ISLAMABAD, Sept 18: A man was gunned down in capital’s rural area of Panchgran on Tuesday, police said.

The victim - AK - , a native of Charsadda, had migrated to Islamabad along with his family seven years back.

Police investigation officer SI Ghulam Abbas said AK had allegedly developed illicit relation with the wife of MK, one of his relatives from Hangu, who had also settled here a few years back.

The IO said someone informed MK about the presence of the victim in his house in his absence. When MK scolded his wife, she denied the allegation.

However, the woman informed the victim about the matter after which he came to the house of MK to talk to him and resolve the issue.

However, when he entered MK’s house, the latter shot him dead and escaped. — Staff reporter

YDA to strike again

RAWALPINDI, Sept 18: Young Doctors Association (YDA) has announced strike in outdoor patients department (OPD) and will stage a protest demonstration at Benazir Bhutto Road against Punjab government for not improving service structure for doctors in the province.

Talking to Dawn, YDA Punjab Chairman Dr Muhammad Haroon said that young doctors would observe strike at OPDs of three allied hospitals and stage protest demonstration in front of Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

He said that the YDA requests to improve the service structure “lands in deaf ears” as Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif does not take notice.

“Despite improving the service structure, the provincial government made criminal cases against the YDA members in Lahore and it should quash all the charges,” he said.

He said that doctors were going abroad especially to Saudi Arabia and if the government did not take up the matter seriously, the government run hospitals would be deserted.

Like other segments of the society, he said, the doctors also felt angry over the release of blasphemous film by US national. “YDA will hold protest demonstration on September 21 (Friday) against the blasphemous film in the city,” he said.— A Reporter

Fuel-saving gadget

ISLAMABAD, Sept 18: A private firm has been working on a gadget that will save up to 25 per cent fuel consumption and increase horsepower up to 12 per cent.

This was stated by Shoaib Ashfaq Qureshi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lahore-based importers and distributors concern, Future Technologies, which is marketing an innovative equipment with the claim that it helps in saving fuel up to 25 per cent on all vehicles.

Giving details about this new gadget, he said the gadget besides fuel consumption will also be very effective for smooth performance of the engine and reduce engine vibration.

He said fuel saving percentage varies on the basis of vehicle model and its condition as well as the road and weather conditions. — APP
