KARACHI, Sept 18: A local government officer said to be an Awami National Party leader was killed in a gun attack on his vehicle in the Old Golimar area on Tuesday, police said.

The officials added that three gunmen riding two motorcycles intercepted the vehicle (GL-6116) of deputy director (education) Moeen Khan, 45, near Bismillah Hotel within the remit of the Pak Colony police station and sprayed it with a volley of bullets before fleeing. Mr Khan sustained a fatal bullet wound to the neck and died on the spot, the police said.

The driver of his vehicle, Babar Khan, remained unhurt in the attack, they said.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The police said that the victim was going home in Railway Colony from his office when he was targeted.

He was father of seven and originally hailed from Buner.

He was recently posted in the education department of the district municipal corporation (west). Prior to his present assignment, he was posted in Lyari.

Sindh ANP President Senator Shahi Syed condemned the targeted killing and said that the victim was a former central leader of the Pakhtun Students Federation and was currently an ANP Sindh Council member.

He demanded that the killers of the ANP leader be arrested immediately.

Two found shot dead Clad in grey and white shalwar kameez, two young bearded men were found shot dead on the Superhighway, police said. They added that the bodies were spotted near Ansari bridge in Rizwan Baghicha within the remit of the Memon Goth police station.

Both victims were trussed up, tortured and shot in the head, the police said.The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Later, the bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

Body found The trussed-up body of an unidentified man was found in Rexer Lane within the remit of the Pak Colony police station on Tuesday.

The police said the body bearing severe torture marks was spotted in a drain and it appeared that it had been lying there for the past three days. The victim was clad in a black shalwar and a T-shirt, said an official at the Pak Colony police station.

He added that the police shifted the body to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for want of identification following medico-legal formalities at the Civil Hospital Karachi.

Bandits kill man Armed robbers barged into the house of a concrete block plant owner and shot him dead upon resistance in the Saeedabad area on Tuesday, police said.

The officials added that the armed men entered the house of 32-year-old Rehmat Ali, situated in Saeedabad’s Sector 12/C, for robbery, but they fired at him when he resisted and fled.

The victim died on the spot, the police said, adding that the body was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police said that he was father of two.
