KARACHI, Sept 14: A young man was killed and his two friends were wounded in Ramswami near Nadra office on Nishtar Road on Friday morning, police said.

They added that Huzaifa Maqsood, 22, and his two friends Amir Hanif and Kashif were riding a motorbike when they were fired at and wounded within the remit of the Nabi Bukhsh police station.

The three men were targeted on their way to the SITE Industrial Area, the police said, adding that they were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where Huzaifa, a resident of Dhobi Ghaat area, died during treatment.

The two others were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

They were said to be supporters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, said the police, suspecting that elements of gang warfare could be behind the incident.

Cloth merchant killed

A cloth merchant was killed in PIB Colony in the early hours of Friday, police said.

Furrukh Khurram, 30, was sitting near Nagina ice depot where he was killed in a drive-by shooting, said an official at the PIB Colony police station.

He added that the victim sustained four gunshot wounds and died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The police quoted a victim’s brother, Kamal Khurram, as saying that they had a cloth shop in Saddar. He told the police that Farrukh stopped at the ice depot as a matter of routine on their way back home on Thursday night.

The police quoted the victim’s brother as saying that he didn’t belong to any political party nor did they receive any extortion call.

Following the murder, tension gripped PIB Colony as shops and markets did not open on Friday morning for normal business.

Car dealer found shot dead

A car dealer was found shot dead inside his home in Liaquatabad No 4, police said.

They added that the body of Imran Nausher, 40, was found inside his residence on the first floor of a five-storey building situated within the remit of the Super Market police station.

The police said the five-storey house belonged to five brothers, each living on a floor.

Super Market SHO S.M. Raza said that the victim had been living alone on the first floor since his wife had left him and started living at her parents’ place.

However, he was not at good terms with his brothers due to his attitude, the police said.

The body was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Labourer shot dead

A 60-year-old labourer was killed and a pedestrian was wounded in a gun attack on Chakiwara Road in Lyari, police said.

The police added the victims were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where Fazal Haq died during treatment, while Sher Alam, 25, was admitted for treatment.

Both the victims were residents of Gulistan Colony, Chakiwara.

The victim hailed from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
