KOHAT, Sept 13: Police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of police inspector Ghani Khan in Hangu district.
Mr Khan was kidnapped by unknown men from Hangu a few days ago and 24 hours later his bullet-riddled body was found from Katgar area in Togh Sarai village of Hangu.
The police said that during investigation of the case they learnt about the alleged culprits and in a raid arrested accused Mohammad Hassan and Gul Shahzad along with the pistol used in the incident and two mobile phone sets.
The police registered a case against the accused and have secured their two-day remand.
COMPENSATION: Commissioner Kohat division Sahibzada Mohammad Anees on Thursday distributed 13 cheques of total Rs3.9 million among heirs of the victims of Parachinar suicide blast.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Anees said that modern weapons and other gadgets were being provided to police deployed at checkposts to curb such incidents.
He said that peace was vital for the tribal area of Kurram Agency where the Hangu-Parachinar Highway had been opened for public use after four years. It may be recalled that 13 civilians were killed and 60 others injured when a bomber detonated a vehicle full of explosives in Kashmir Chowk in Parachinar bazaar on Sept 10.
Political secretary Minhasuddin told Dawn that more compensation would be released for the injured and those whose property was damaged.
