KARACHI, Sept 3: Armed robbers took away cash, jewellery and other valuables from the home of a senior Dawn staffer in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Monday.

Dawn staffer Umair Saqib and his son were at their respective workplaces when two bandits barged into his home in Block 12 and held his wife at gunpoint.

Before collecting the valuables, they asked her if anyone else was there, Mr Saqib said.  He added that they collected Rs80,000, jewellery, a laptop, two cellphones, three wrist watches and other assorted valuables from the home during their hour-long stay and escaped.—Staff Reporter
