LAHORE, Aug 25: Hanjarwal police claim to have unearthed a liquor-manufacturing unit in Thokar Niaz Beg on Saturday, seized a huge quantity of liquor and arrested the owner.

Sadar SP (Operations) Liaquat Ali Malik constituted a police team which raided a place in Sarwar Town, took Lakha alias Bagga into custody and seized the liquor.

A case has been registered against him under Section 3/4 PEHO.

Meanwhile, Sabzazar police claimed they had arrested Naeem Qasim of Renala Khurd. Naeem was wanted in a robbery case registered with the Faisal Town police in 2009.

DISMISSED: Sadar SP (Operations) Liaquat Ali Malik has dismissed T/ASI Imran Jaffar of Township police station on charges of corruption and patronizing criminals.

The charges against the official were proved in an inquiry.

MEETING: A meeting of the district emergency officers of the Rescue 1122 from all districts was held at the Emergency Service Academy here on Saturday to finalise the action plan for the eradication of dengue.

The performance of the rescue service and flood arrangements were also reviewed in the meeting.

Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer directed officers to ensure cleanliness at rescue stations, emergency vehicles and among the staff to provide no place for dengue breeding.

He asked the DEOs to work for larvae identification and eradication at rescue stations and surrounding areas. DEOs were also stressed to arrange dengue awareness activities in districts in coordination with other line departments.

The DG asked all DEOs to ensure quality service in districts by ensuring prompt, courteous and professional response.

He urged officers to ensure regular emergency response drills at rescue stations and physical fitness of staff through motivational and sports activities.
