KASUR, Aug 16: A proclaimed offender carrying head money of one million rupees was killed in a police encounter on Thursday night near village Punwan, in the limits of Mustafabad police station.

Two motorcyclists approached Qadiwind police picket on Thursday night. Seeing the police, the accused opened fire and sped towards Badian village on their motorcycle.

A police party headed by ASP Shabir Ahmed Sathiar chased the accused. In an exchange of fire, one of the accused was killed near Punwan village while the other managed his escape.

The shot accused was identified as Riaz Dogar wanted by City, B-Division and Sadar police in about two dozen cases of robbery and robbery-cum- murder.

SUICIDE: A student who failed in the 9th class exam committed suicide by swallowing poison in Padhana village, in the limits of Phoolnagar police station, on Thursday.

Hafiz Tauqeer was referred to Lahore Jinnah Hospital from Pattoki THQ but he could not survive. — Correspondent
