PTI’s proposed protest camp

SWABI, Aug 12: PTI leaders announced on Sunday that their three-day protect camp at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk against the Pesco and district administration would be commencing from the Independence Day.

Speaking at a meeting they said the camp was against the unjust FIR registered by the district police under the anti-terrorist act after unruly power protesters raided the Swabi grid station a few days back.

They said power protests were held across the country but such FIRs had not been registered.

“On one hand the district police and Pesco imposed prolong loadsheddi0ng on the people and registered unjust FIR against them on the other,” said Shah Wali, former district information secretary of the party. He has also been booked for leading the protesters.

They said the FIR had been registered against majority of the PTI leaders and workers, adding some leading politicians were involved in it.—Correspondent

Action sought

CHITRAL, Aug 12: The leaders of different political parities, including ANP and PPP and district bar association, have demanded stern action against a notorious drug pusher to save the future of new generation from devastation.

In the all parties meeting held here the other day, ANP’s Syed Muzafar Jan, PPP’s Mohammad Hakim advocate, PML-N’s Fazle Rahim, JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Shakoor, JI’s Maulana Sher Aziz and district bar association president Ghulam Hazrat Inqilabi advocate said the accused, Mian Mukhtar Gul, was spoiling the new generation. They said the accused had been arrested dozens of time in the past but he got himself off the hook.

The meeting passed a resolution, calling for exemplary punishment to the drug pusher for selling hashish throughout the district through his agents.

They lauded the efforts of DCO Rahmatullah Wazir for tightening the noose around the drug pusher and assured him of their all out support to purge the society of the drug menace.—Correspondent

Electricity thieves booked

KOHAT, Aug 12: Pesco has registered cases against eight electricity thieves out of 73 complaints which were received during operations in various parts of rural sub division of Kohat district.

The SDO of Pesco rural area Altaf Hussain said the Wapda team also recovered Rs200,000 from the defaulters and lodged FIRs against eight people for using kunda system. The accused are Imtiaz, Mohammad Afzal, Khan Akbar, Mohammad Ali, Azar ur Rehman, Jamshed, Mohammad Akram and Azaruddin, a Pesco inspector informed Dawn.

The operation was conducted in Fateh Khan Khel, Miangan Colony, Tor Chappar, Saadullah Colony and Jungle Khel areas. The inspector of Pesco rural sub division, Sabtain Ali Shah informed that they had received 73 complaints and cases were field against eight consumers under section 39A of the electricity Act.—Correspondent

Judicial officers reshuffled

PESHAWAR, Aug 12: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa home and tribal affairs department in consultation with the Peshawar High Court has ordered postings and transfers of three presiding officers of anti-terrorism courts.

According to a press release issued on Sunday, a district and sessions judge Mohammad Asim Imam has been posted as judge ATC at Kohat. His predecessor Naveed Ahmad Khan, an additional district and sessions judge, has been repatriated to the high court.

Similarly, an additional district and sessions judge Abdul Ghafoor Qureshi has been posted as judge of the ATC at Matta in Swat. His predecessor, Mohammad Younis Khan, has also been repatriated to the high court.

Furthermore, an additional district and sessions judge Mohammad Asif Khan was posted as judge ATC at Swat against a vacant post.—Bureau Report

DPC against operation in SWA

NOWSHERA, Aug 12: Chief of Defa-i-Pakistan Council (DPC) Maulana Samiul Haq has warned the government against launching military operation in South Waziristan. He was of the view that the operation was a conspiracy against the country.

“The government wants to please the Americans by starting military operation in South Waziristan but this decision would spread militancy in the whole country,” warned Maulana Sami while talking to media persons at Darul Uloom-i-Haqqania here on Sunday.

He made it clear that militant groups would start activities across the country if the government launched the operation. He added DPC would call a meeting of all allied parties after Eidul Fitr to chalk out a future strategy in this regard.

He said the DPC would continue to raise voice against the ‘pro-American’ policies of the government.

Maulana Sami condemned the raid over Medressah Darul Uloom Karachi and search operation in its hostel.—Correspondent
