LAHORE, March 18: The Nawab Town police on Sunday arrested a young man for killing his friend and dumping his body in a house in Ali Razaabad.

The police also exhumed the body of Muhammad Omer, who belonged to Dir, and seized counterfeit currency from the culprit. Saddar SP Operation Shoaib Khurram Janbaz told Dawn that a team acted on information provided by the Dir police that 20-year-old Muhammad Omer had been missing from home for about a month and his last cell phone location was Lahore.

He said the police gathered details, raided the house of Abdul Razzaque at Ali Razaabad and took Saddam (of Noshehra) into custody. He said on his pointation, the police exhumed the body which was buried in a five-foot deep hole.

Saddam Hussain told the police that he invited Omer to Lahore and killed him in connivance with Razzaque, his wife and mother. He said they also looted 9,000 Saudi Riyals, a gold ring and cash. He further said after dumping the body they filled the hole with concrete. Saddam and Omer also worked together in Saudi Arabia.

The SP said Saddam, who was associated with counterfeit currency business, had made confessions while efforts were being made to arrest three others.

He said as the Dir police lodged only a missing report a case had been registered with the Nawab Town police.

Khurram said the police also seized some counterfeit currency from the house.

RECOVERED: The Badami Bagh police on Sunday recovered two young sisters from a house at Green Town after they were kidnapped by two persons a few days ago.

The police said 15-year-old Saliha and 10-year-old Nazia were recovered from the detention of Jameel and his accomplice near Baggrian Chowk at Green Town.

Muhammad Zulfikar of Hanif Park had complained to the police that Jameel abducted his sisters with the help of his accomplice.

THEFT: Thieves took away cash, jewellery and valuables worth over Rs300,000 from a house in J-Block of Defence Housing Authority on Sunday.

Shahid Jamal informed Defence-A police that thieves entered his house after cutting grill of a window, looted four tolas of gold ornaments, Rs10,000 in cash, four watches and two digital cameras and fled.
