PESHAWAR, March 16: Police on Friday arrested two persons allegedly involved in a robbery at a bank in Nauthia.
Speaking at a press conference at East Cantonment police station DSP Sahibzada Sajjad said the accused identified as Mohsain and Imran of Nauthia had been arrested after collecting evidence and a footage of close circuit camera.
They had broken into the bank on Feb 28 last, held the bank staff on gunpoint and took away Rs14,713 with them. They had also taken away official rifles from a policeman and a guard of the bank.
The police also recovered weapons and the looted money from them and registered case against them at Gulberg police station.
Meanwhile, the regional office of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, FBR Peshawar on Friday seized 21kg of foreign origin opium worth Rs2.1 million and arrested two smugglers.
The intelligence unit on a tip-off signalled a Toyota Corolla car No-M-5575 coming from Peshawar side to stop.
During search of the vehicle the officials of intelligence unit detected opium concealed in secret cavities of the front and back bumpers of the car. The driver Umar Ali and his accomplice Hazart Mohammad were arrested. —Bureau/APP
