KHAIRPUR, March 15: A police constable was killed and two others were injured in firing by unidentified armed men near Mian Khan Pul in Ahmedpur area late on Wednesday.

According to reports, three constables were on patrolling at some distance from their picket at Mian Khan Pul when they were fired upon.

Police also retaliated and in the crossfire constable Fateh Mohammad Jhatiyal, 35, was killed while his other colleagues Ali Gul Lohar and Ayaz Behan received injuries.

After the incident, area police and SP Khairpur Irfan Ali Baloch reached the spot and carried out search operation in the area.

Later, Ahmedpur police took the body into custody and the injured constables to the Civil Hospital of Khairpur from where they were referred to Chandika Medical College Hospital in Larkana.

Body of Constable Fateh Mohammad was given police honour and sent to his native town of Badah, district Larkana, under protocol.

SP Irfan Ali Baloch donated Rs40,000 cash to the family of the deceased for meeting burial expenses. He also anno-unced that the family would be given his salary up to 60 years service period.
