LAHORE, March 14: A 60-year-old passer-by was killed and another injured in a shooting which involved a tenant in Abid Market of Mozang area on Wednesday.

The suspects also thrashed a young man who tried to reconcile between the two.

Police said Muhammad Siddique and Tahir Butt suffered wounds after Athar and his accomplices opened fire on Muhammad Moaaz, son of Haji Atta Muhammad (owner of the shop which was in the use of Athar) following a quarrel over monthly rent.

The suspects missed the target and bullets they fired hit the passers-by. Siddique succumbed to his wound at hospital.

Before shooting, Athar and his men thrashed youngster Asif for trying to mediate between two sides.

Moaaz had gone to Athar for the collection of rent at the time of the incident.

SHOT DEAD:Factory Area police found the body of 24-year-old Rafqat Ali of Qadri Colony in Railway Colony and shifted it for autopsy on Wednesday.

Station House Officer Muhammad Attique Dogar said Rafaqat was sitting along with his friends at a room in Qadri Colony in late hours when he was apparently shot at by one of his friends.

He said the suspect(s) threw the body in Railway Colony and fled the scene.

He said the victim suffered a single bullet to his chest.

The SHO said police took Ali Raza, Rafaqat's friend, into custody who was initially confessing that he opened fire on his friend when they were having a company.

He said police had shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against Ali and his unidentified accomplices.
