PPP man shot dead

KARACHI, Feb 27: An activist of the Pakistan People's Party was gunned down in the Metroville area on Monday evening, police said.

They said that the victim was identified as Haji Ishrat, 48. He was on his way home in Metroville within the remit of the SITE-A police station in his car when two armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted him, fired at him and rode away, said an area police officer.

He said that the victim sustained a bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police were not sure about the motive for the killing. Meanwhile, an employee of a cellular company was shot dead in a Clifton locality, police said. They said that 30-year-old Asif Butt was shot dead outside his Clifton Block 2 home within the remit of the Boat Basin police station.

A duty officer at the Boat Basin police station said that the victim was shot once in the head. He died on the spot.

They said that two assailants were said to be present outside the victim's house and one of them shot him shortly after he parked his car after returning from work. —Staff Reporter
