ISLAMABAD, Jan 30: A villager was gunned down over family dispute in capital's rural area on Monday, police said.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Dildar 29, a resident of Gunjmandi area. Police said the victim's wife came over to her brother's (Mohammad Rasheed) residence at Mera Jaffar Golra after quarrelling with her husband, a day before.

On Monday Dildar came to his in-laws' house to resolve the issue for which the family elders called a jirga. During the jirga, Rasheed – who was also married with Dildar's sister – exchanged harsh words with the victim which led in a brawl.

Later Rasheed pulled out a pistol and fired at his brother-in-law. As a result he fell on earth and started bleeding. Rasheed escaped from the scene.

On getting information, police reached the spot and the injured was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have registered a case.
