LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday ordered a judicial inquiry into reports of deaths due to reaction from counterfeit medicine supplied by the Pakistan Cardiology Institute (PIC), DawnNews reported.
Secretary Punjab Health Department and the chief executive of the PIC were also removed from their positions as per the orders of CM Shahbaz.
Meanwhile, police on Saturday arrested the PIC pharmacist and storekeepers who allegedly supplied the substandard medicines. The Punjab police team investigating the case also acquired medicine samples and related documentary record from the victims’ relatives.
The relatives and family members of 10 victims have also recorded their statements with the investigative team, police said.
