LAHORE, Jan 23: Robbers took away cash and valuables worth Rs2.4 million from three houses and two shops in the city on Monday.

Four gun-totting men barged in the house of Fiaz in Gujjarpura police precincts and looted cash and valuables worth Rs1 million.

Some robbers stormed into the house of Usman in Wahdat Colony police precincts and looted cash and valuables worth Rs700,000.

Some robbers entered the house of Arif Alvi in Gulberg police precincts and took away cash and valuables worth Rs500,000. Two robbers entered the shop of Malik Faqeer Muhammad in Sabzazar police precincts and snatched cash and valuables worth Rs100,000.

Two robbers entered the shop of Shafeeq in Wahdat Colony police precincts and looted Rs100,000 and cell phones.

Two robbers stopped Adnan in Harbanspura police precincts and deprived him of Rs24,000, a cell phone and a motorcycle.

Two robbers stopped the family of Yaseen in Iqbal Town police precincts and looted cash and valuables worth Rs300,000 from the members.

fire incidents: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands were reduced to ashes in three fire incidents in the city on Monday, rescue and police officials said.

In the first incident, a fire erupted in the house of labour Ibrahim in Karamat Colony, Mustafabad, burning households of his three sons. The cause of the fire is believed to gas leakage.

Another fire erupted in the house of Khwaja Tassaduque Zia near Tariq Hospital, Chowk Nakhuda, gutting valuables worth Rs50,000.

In the third incident, valuables worth Rs50,000 were gutted when the blaze erupted in the house of Liaqat Ali on Kamahan Road.

Quoting families, rescuers said reasons for fires could not be ascertained.

DIES: An Urdu bazaar trader, who allegedly consumed some poisonous substance in his Shahdara home on Jan 20, died at Mayo Hospital on Monday. Police called the incident suicide.

Quoting family, Shahdara police said 40-year-old Abdul Razzaque took some liquid which rendered him unconscious.

According to the family, Razzaque, a father of four, suffered losses in his business.
