LAHORE, Jan 22: A jobless man, who was also suffering from a kidney disease, committed suicide by hanging himself with a grille of his neighbour’s roof in Ehsaan Town, Manawan, on Sunday.

Manawan police said investigation with the family and the circumstantial evidence suggested that 23-year-old Tanveer Elahi took his own life. Police said that the elder brother of the deceased was mentally-challenged.

Police said the body was handed over to the family after investigation.

KILLED: A 28-year-old man was killed and another sustained injuries in a collision between a motorcycle and a donkey-cart on Chandraiy Road on Sunday.

Kot Lakhpat police said that Muhammad Imran of Green Town was going on a bike along with his friend Abdul Samad when their bike collided with the cart. They were rushed to Lahore General Hospital where Imran succumbed to his wounds.

The people captured the cart driver, thrashed him and handed him over to police.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a plastic factory on Din Road in Badami Bagh on Sunday, burning down valuables and damaging property worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The Rescue 1122 personnel brought the blaze erupted in the factory of Abdul Razzaq under control. Short-circuiting was said to be the cause of fire. The owner estimated his loss of up to Rs4 million.

Security reviewed:  DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar on Sunday reviewed security arrangements along the route of the central procession of Safar 28 and ordered strict security measures. The procession will emerge from Hussainia Hall on Monday (today).

According to a handout, the DIG inspected the procession route and discussed security arrangements with Shiite ulema and members of the district peace committee.

The DIG, who was flanked by SSP (Operations) Sarfaraz Falki and others, ordered the deployment of 3,000 policemen along the route of the procession.

He said 30 close-circuit cameras, 28 walk-through gates and metal detectors would be the part of security. Shiite ulema assured the DIG to provide 400 volunteers. According to the security plan, the police will conduct a thorough search in the parking lot and the administration has been directed to ensure the presence of one person in every parked vehicle.
