KARACHI, Jan 18: Two scrap dealers were shot dead in Keamari's Machhar Colony on Wednesday, police said.

They said that assailants riding a motorbike fired at the two men identified as Abdullah Khan and Noor Khan when they came out of Ibrahim Mosque after offering Asr prayers.

Both men sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The Docks police shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities. The victims appeared to be in their mid-forties.

Docks SHO Madad Ali Zardari said that the victims were relatives and associated with the scrap business.

He said about two months back, victim Abdullah had brought here his second wife from Kohat.

He said that the police believed that the killing might have been linked to his second marriage.

He said that the victims' family made it clear that there was no business-related enmity between them and any individual or group.

Till late in the night, no FIR regarding the double murder was lodged at the Docks police station.

Man dies as lift falls A labourer was killed and two others were wounded when a lift fell on them during installation in an underconstruction site in the Gulbai area on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the incident took place at a factory located near the PAF Masroor Base where work to install a lift was in progress.

However, the lift fell on three labourers, who were rushed to the CHK for treatment. However, one of them died at the hospital, they added.
