KARACHI, Jan 13: Two suspected bandits were killed in what police described as an encounter in Shah Latif Town in the early hours of Friday.

Police said that the encounter took place near old Mehar cinema within the remit of the Shah Latif police station.They said that four bandits were looting passers-by and commuters near the cinema.

While armed hold-ups were under way, a police patrol reached there and sensing danger the bandits opened fire and tried to escape, they said.The police also returned fire and killed two suspects. However, two other suspects managed to escape.

The police said that the bandits appeared to be in their mid-twenties. The bodies were sent to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.—Staff Reporter
